Well-heeled locals have written to the council to protest against the Piano Bar’s application to open until 4am at weekends with “Latin American dance and belly-dancing” among the entertainment on offer.Police have also expressed concern that the Finchley Road venue’s application could lead to an increase in drink-fuelled crime and disorder in the area. The bar’s owner today dismissed the fears, insisting there would be “no belly-dancing or strippers” as Camden Council prepared to rule on the licence tonight.Former Carlton TV boss Nigel Walmsley, who lives nearby, said: “This is a stressed area in need of rescue if it is not to fall into urban blight. Drinking to 4am can only make matters worse.”Alper Ozceylan, 29 a private equity investment manager, who lives above the venue, said: “This is an upmarket residential area and we don’t need a sleazy nightclub opening here. It doesn’t fit.”
